Random Theory is an art work I created in 2008 as I was cleaning up the studio and got inspired by fragments of textiles that were too interesting to discard. Part of it is an old painting which I cut up, arranging the pieces until they began to resemble an aerial landscape I might have viewed once on a flight across the country. I like the “relic” feel of this work, and the way the rectangular shapes evoke blocks of rooftops seen from the air. Green, turquoise, and cornflower blue is one of my favorite color combinations, and I love how red and orange pops this piece. How it all came together, I can’t say for sure, which is why I gave it this title.
